URIUS Program - Request for Applications

We are excited to announce the launch of the new URIUS Program (Undergraduate Research Internships in the US) offering unique research opportunities for NTUA Chemical Engineering students, who have completed at least their second year of studies (i.e., being on their 3rd, 4th or 5th year of studies). Selected students will work with US Professors at major US Universities gaining hands-on experience with state-of-the-art technologies across many fields.

Currently, there are 3 positions available in the groups of:

• Prof. Dion Vlachos at the University of Delaware

As part of their 2-month full-time internship, the students will:

• Gain original and hands-on research experience using cutting-edge equipment and technologies.
• Develop and exercise scientific writing and communication skills.
• Explore career choices through interaction with established professionals.

Funding: A stipend is provided to fully cover housing and living expenses, in addition to travel.

Application Requirements (a single pdf document has to be submitted electronically to Prof. G. Mpourmpakis at gmpourmp@chemeng.ntua.gr):

• Short CV (ONE page);
• Motivation statement (up to 2 pages in English), explicitly stating why the candidate would like a) to perform research, and b) in the specific research field of interest with the specific Professor. If more than one Professors are mentioned in the motivation statement, their order of preference should also be listed.
• Course performance certificate (criteria: GPA and #courses passed/year); and
• Names and contact information of two reference writers, who will be contacted to provide their letters of recommendation, if the candidate is shortlisted.

Deadline for applications: January 10, 2025

The selected students will be announced on January 24, 2025. The internships will take place in the summer of 2025 (months of July and August).
