Adjusted class schedule and delivery for the next 2 weeks

Dear students,

Χρόνια Πολλά, Χριστός Ανέστη.

I hope you had a good Easter break.

I would like to inform you that for the next two weeks (20.04.26 - 30.04.26) our classes will take place online, because I am currently facing a temporary arm injury and I am not able to teach face-to-face.

Since the classes will be delivered online, the timetable will be slightly adjusted. The revised class times for the next two weeks are the following.

The classes will cover the theory only and an explanation of the assigned tasks rather than practical work.

Regarding attendance, given the current circumstances, attendance requirements will not apply until the end of the semester.

This is the Zoom link for our online classes. The same link will be used for all classes and for all Schools. If you have any difficulty accessing the link, please email me.

Thank you.

Best,

Goni Togia

KriKri, the Greek ChatGPT!

Dear students

I’d like to inform you about a Greek Natural Language Processing (NLP) system that was used in preparing an AI-Assisted translation class delivered to Mechanical Engineering students on 17/3/26.

The class was conducted by Prof. M. Pantazidou (School of Civil Engineering) and myself. To prepare for it, we used KriKri* (https://chat.ilsp.gr/login) and obtained somewhat mixed results. In terms of language support, Kri Kri generally performs well; however, its further improvement, depends on our active engagement with it. The fact that a new NLP tool has been developed by a Greek team at the Institute of Language Processing is in itself noteworthy,  which is why I wanted to share it you.

If you think so as well, I encourage you to start working with it.

Thank you.
Best,
Goni Togia

* Based on its own description, KriKri belongs to the category of Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems, with a focus on Language Understanding and Language Generation.

Announcement for the Schools of CE, ME, MMM, and NAME: Course information

Dear students,

this email is quite long because it contains all the important information that you will need for this course, so please read it carefully.

I have uploaded the Week2 tasks handout. If you were unsure about the tasks to be completed for this week, you can now find them in the Week 2 folder.

In general, the filenames in the Weekly Materials folders will always follow the same format so that you can easily find the files:

Weekly team responsibilities

Each week, the Team Lead must complete two tasks:

You can find the links as follows:

By 15/03/2026, please:

Class time

My aim is for you to complete most of the weekly tasks during class time. For that reason, class time will be allocated (more or less) as follows:

If your team does not manage to finish the tasks during class time, you may either continue them during the following week or complete them as homework. This is a decision for your team.

If you have any questions, please email me.

Enjoy the weekend.

Best,

 Goni Togia

Announcement for the School of ECE: Course information

Dear students,

thank you for joining today’s class and for your patience with all the logistical difficulties we encountered. I really appreciate it!

I would also like to apologise that we were not able to complete this week's work, but, given the circumstances, it would have been difficult to do so.

The email below contains all the important information for this course, so, although it is a bit long, please read it carefully.

I have confirmed with the secretariat that Room 001 will be our main classroom, since Amphitheatre 1 is used by another class until 17.00 and Amphitheatres 2 and 5 have similar capacity to Room 001. We will, therefore, continue our classes in Room 001.

If Room 001 continues to be quite full, during project work (the second half of our class), you may spread out into nearby classrooms if this helps your team to work more comfortably and focus better. We will see how this works next week.

Regarding this week's materials, I have uploaded the Week2 tasks handout.

In general, the filenames in the Weekly Materials folders will follow the same format so that you can easily find the files:

If your team does not manage to finish the tasks during class time, you may either continue them during the following week or complete them as homework. This is a decision for your team.

Finally, given the number of students who chose the project option, teams of up to 6 team members are also allowed (instead of 5).

If you need to update your team, resubmit the Google Form and add “(revised)” to the submission. Then, I will delete the previous entry.

If you have any questions, please email me.

Thank you again and see you next week.
