Successful completion of the PlastOmics Workshop

January 24, 2025

The PlastOmics Project successfully organized and completed the workshop "Bioinformatics Tools for the Analysis of Proteomic Data".

The event was promoted through the website of the School of Chemical Engineering at NTUA and our academic network, attracting 61 registered participants from diverse academic backgrounds. Of these, 35% were researchers, 30% undergraduate students and 28% master's/graduate students. Participants were affiliated with institutions such as National Technical University of Athens, the Agricultural University of Athens, the University of Patras, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Delft University of Technology.

The workshop was held in a hybrid format, with sessions conducted on-site at the Computer Laboratory of the School of Chemical Engineering at NTUA and online via Webex. Among the registrants, 43% opted for in-person attendance, while 57% joined remotely. Ultimately, 17 participants attended on-site and 29 participated online.

The workshop began with a presentation by Dr. Efstratios Nikolaivits (Associate Researcher), who introduced the PlastOmics Project and its research significance, including the wet-lab methodology used to generate omics data. The main session was conducted by Mr. Romanos Siaperas (Assistant Researcher), covering proteomic analysis using mass spectrometry, hands-on data processing with FragPipe and Perseus and a case study in which participants actively engaged.

Spanning five hours, the workshop fostered dynamic discussions between participants and organizers, highlighting the growing interest in bioinformatics tools for proteomic data analysis.

We thank all attendees for their participation and look forward to future collaborations!

Successful completion of the NGS Seminar

January 26, 2024

The PlastOmics Project successfully organized the seminar "NGS Techniques for Genomics Exploration: An In-depth Workshop" provided by Novogene.

The event was announced internally within our research group and targeted specifically to members of the PlastOmics Project and affiliated students and researchers. A total of 13 researchers and students from the National Technical University of Athens, the Agricultural University of Athens and the University of Patras attended the seminar.

The seminar was held online via the Webex platform. The main sessions were delivered by experts from Novogene, with Huijuan Guo and Tibor Szekeres providing in-depth presentations on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies and their research applications. The discussions included project planning and practical considerations for NGS-based experiments.

We thank all attendees for their participation and extend our gratitude to Novogene and the presenters for their valuable contribution. We look forward to future training activities and collaborations!
