Our Team

This is the first year of participation in the competition for the iGEM Athens team and it is the initiative of a student group of the School of Chemical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. The iGEM Athens team is composed of seven undergraduate students of the School of Chemical Engineering, NTUA , one undergraduate of the Computer Science Department of the School of Information Sciences & Technology, AUEB and one undergraduate of the Biology Faculty of School of Sciences, UoA.

Our varying scientific interests and experiences, as well as the challenges of synthetic biology, created this year's iGEM Athens team. The rapidly growing field of synthetic biology and its multiple benefits to the industry, the environment and medicine, have prompted us to actively engage in the competition. The competition is an opportunity for us to apply the knowledge we have gained during our studies, become even more familiar with teamwork, explore new cognitive paths and develop valuable skills.
