Professional Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies Program “Energy Systems and Sustainability” – Call for applications for the Academic Year 2026-2027
Organization
The School of Chemical Engineering (coordinating School) and the School of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA call applicants to express their interest in participating at the Professional Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies Program “Energy Systems and Sustainability” for the academic year 2026-2027.
The PIPP-ESAS constitutes the result of the long-term cooperation between the Schools of Chemical and Mechanical Engineering with DESFA (Operator of the Greek National Natural Gas System), which is the exclusive sponsor of the Program. The collaboration with DESFA strengthens and intensifies the links of NTUA with the labor market, through the promotion of this cooperation and the expression of interest from other agencies for young engineers, while simultaneously improving the visibility of the research carried out at NTUA. The ambition of all collaborating parties is to constitute and operate as a knowledge and innovation hub, strengthening the cooperation between NTUA, agencies and businesses of the energy sector.
Purpose
The MSc Program “Energy Systems and Sustainability” aspires to shape a new generation of specialized scientists and professionals with a deep understanding of modern energy technologies and their role in the transition towards a sustainable energy future. Focusing on renewable gas and liquid energy carriers such as hydrogen, biomethane, synthetic fuels, and ammonia, the program aims to enhance expertise in production, storage, transport and utilization of renewable fuels within the framework of the circular economy and carbon footprint reduction.
Program Structure
The Program, having a minimum duration of three (3) semesters, leads to the award of a Master of Science degree, and is equivalent to 90 ECTS. Both course attendance and thesis writing are mandatory. In the context of creating new scientists-professionals, who are going to be active in an international environment, the languages of teaching and examination of the courses are Greek and English. The language of writing the MSc thesis is English. The MSc Thesis includes an extensive summary in Greek.
Eligibility
The MSc Programm is addressed to engineers, graduates from the National Technical University of Greece and other domestic universities with a five-year duration of studies or from equivalent institutions abroad, recognized as equivalent to Greek universities, as well as to graduates of Physics and Chemistry with a 4-year cycle of studies in the fields of Physics and Chemistry, from domestic universities or from equivalent institutions abroad. A necessary admission requirement is a degree grade higher than 6.5/10 and a certificate of knowledge of the English language at the Proficiency level (C2) or IELTS (for study) with a minimum score of 7/10. The program is also addressed to final year graduates of the above faculties and specialties who meet the above requirements and can prove that by the start of the courses they will have completed their first cycle of studies.
A total of 37 people will be selected each academic year, of which 7 will come from the Funding Agency.
