Harnessing the potential of Accessory enzymes and their Synergistic relationships in
the valorization of Greek lignocellulosic biomass - ARSIS
The overall aim of the ARSIS project is the investigation of accessory enzyme activities for the optimization of the existing lignocellulolytic cocktails, in order to maximize the sugar yield of LCB materials derived from the Greek agroindustrial sector. Selected enzymes from all major accessory enzyme families will be studied in detail, in regard to their specificity in different LCB components, but emphasis will be given to their synergistic action with the major enzymes of LCB breakdown (cellulases, hemicellulases and oxidoreductases). Furthermore, the action of accessory enzymes will be tested in complex LCB samples, and ultimately the enhancement of commercial enzyme cocktails will be evaluated.
