Courses

Process Control

The overall aim is to provide the students an understanding of:
- Process dynamics (ability to develop mathematical and transfer function models for dynamic processes)
- Stability
- Block diagrams
- Design of automatic control systems (familiarity with the PID controller structure and different techniques for designing PID controllers)
- Introduction to robust control (phase and gain margins)

Systems of Process Control and Informatics

The course presents concepts and techniques for designing process control systems that extend beyond the classical PID tuning methods:

  • State space models
  • Controllability and Observability
  • Stability of State Space Systems
  • Pole placement
  • Design of Observers
  • Optimal Control (LQR,Kalman filter)
